Who we are
Attune Development is an organized team of professionals that help ATTUNE people(s) to changing conditions by supporting and empowering them to take positive actions in response to socio-economic and environmental challenges experienced in the Amazonian rainforest.
The organization was established in 2013 by professionals with more than 10 years of practical experience in participatory processes by working closely with indigenous and maroon communities situated in Suriname, Brazil and Colombia.
The expertise of Attune has been instrumental in various participatory processes in Suriname, such as the REDD+ Readiness proposal project for the World Bank, the phasing-out of mercury under the Minamata Convention, the 3rd International Congress on Biodiversity of the Guiana Shield, the national land rights dialogue, the formulation of national climate change policies and the preparation for ratification of the UN Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
What makes us different?
Our team has established a long-term, trustworthy relationship with communities. With our network and our expertise we can identify problems ahead of time, promote dialogue, facilitate meaningful participation of stakeholders and manage conflict when implementing projects. We find ways to create win-win solutions that promote sustainability in the livelihood of communities. In that way, processes are more efficient in use of time and resources and will gather positive public attention.
We can complement your project with the social component crucial to its success.
