Promoting understanding of traditional knowledge
Outcome of third regional congress on Biodiversity shows a combination of advocacy for rights and interest by indigenous peoples after Attune’s facilitation efforts, August 2013
Indigenous groups from Suriname, French Guyana, Guyana, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil came together to discuss issues of cultural biodiversity and sustainable development. The more than 70 participants asked attention for recognition of their rights and indicated a need for developing a mechanism to bridge traditional and western worlds.
